The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) initiated an investigation into the violation of the Financial Markets Act by Envion AG, an encrypted start-up company.

In a press release issued on Thursday, FINMA confirmed that investigative proceedings had been initiated against Envion because “public deposits associated with the issuance of the initial coin (ICO) of the EVN may be unauthorized, leading to a possible violation of banking law”.

The regulator added that it would not comment further when the investigation was formally concluded and clarified that although it was committed to helping companies start their ICO projects, it would not hesitate to take action to regulate non-compliance with established norms and violations of ICO laws.
