Charles Hoskinson and Vitalik Buterin were divided in June 2014 on the direction of ETA’s development before ETA’s launch. Charles Hoskinson wanted to accept venture capital and set up a formal governance structure. Vitalik wanted to move away from venture capital, but operated the ETA Foundation as a non-profit entity. One of the first civil disturbances that ETA faced led Charles to leave ETA’s foundation. A deeply rooted community gradually replaced Charles Hoskinson, and since then the ETA Foundation has become an incredible supporter of the ETA ecosystem.

The Etherworld Foundation was crucial to the success of Ether, and even helped to spearhead the project, but it was a central force at an early stage. Centralization was essentially antagonistic to the Etherm, which led to numerous attacks by the Bitcoin community, claiming that Ether was a “centralized scam.” In October 2014, Joseph Lubin, the co-founder of Ether House, conceived Consenysys.
