BTC的共识机制是PoW（工作量证明）机制。PoW机制通过算力竞赛出块，PoW的优势是可靠、使用广泛，是经历了充分的实践检验的公有链共识算法。但其缺点也较为明显：消耗了太多额外算力，耗费大量能源，很不环保。
The BTC’s consensus mechanism is the PoW (Credit of Work) mechanism. The PoW mechanism is built through arithmetic competition, and PoW has the advantage of being reliable and widely used, a public-chain consensus algorithm that has been fully tested in practice.
ETH目前使用的是“PoW+PoS”共识机制，目前正在向纯PoS的方向发展，但进度较为缓慢。PoS共识即是最近较为火热的“Proof of Stake”，权益证明机制，按照币龄计算出块的概率。PoS共识机制的优点是不用耗费大量能源用于算力竞赛，缺点是按照币龄出块的存币生息不利于代币的流通。
The ETH is currently using the PoW+PoS consensus mechanism, which is now moving in the direction of pure PoS, but at a slower pace. The PoS consensus is the recently hot "Proof of Stock", an entitlement proof mechanism that calculates the probability of a block according to its currency age. The PoS consensus mechanism has the advantage of not spending a lot of energy on arithmetic competitions, and the disadvantage is that the currency that is born on a currency block according to its age is not conducive to the circulation of money.
Filecoin的共识机制是预期共识，里面的主要证明机制为时空证明（PoSt）机制，全称Proof-of-Spacetime，即（存储）空间时间证明。在权益共识PoS（Proof-of-Stake）的基础上，Filecoin改进共识机制成了PoSt，来替代工作量证明PoW。在Filecoin系统中，矿工完成存储，用户确认矿工完成存储，这里的“确认矿工完成存储”，就是Filecoin的共识机制（PoSt），这个“确认矿工完成存储”会一直存在于Filecoin网络中，用户可以随时查看。

矿机本质不同

BTC/ETH矿机的本质是数据计算设备。不管从初期的CPU挖矿、GPU挖矿，还是到后来的FPGA挖矿、ASIC挖矿、大规模集群挖矿，其实质都是集中提升挖矿设备数据计算能力的挖矿。

矿机本质的不同，使得存储矿机的配置特点也与BTC/ETH矿机大不相同。主要用于数据存储的存储矿机不需要太高的算力，即CPU的性能不要求太高，内存容量适合即可，但需要大容量的存储空间，也就是说，单位空间的硬盘密度要大，尽可能装备多的硬盘，同时数据存储的I/O性能要高，要有尽可能高的带宽通道。因为数据存储的特殊性要求，矿机整机要求必须稳定安全不易损坏。
