2月25日，比特币的资深玩家透露，全球最大的比特币交易平台MT.GOX由于系统漏洞损失大量比特币无法弥补客户损失而申请破产保护。而包括国内比特币交易网站BTC China在内的多家交易网站，也专门就“MT.GOX破产”发表了联合声明(a joint statement to the Bitcoin community regarding the insolvency of Mt.Gox)。
On February 25, Bitcoin’s senior player revealed that the world’s largest Bitcoin trading platform, MT.GOX, could not claim bankruptcy protection because of the system’s leaks, and that several trading websites, including the domestic Bitcoin trading website, BTC China, had issued a joint statement (a joint status to the Bitcoin company recovering the insolvency of Mt.Gox).
而据《华尔街日报》稍早前的报道，比特币交易所Mt.Gox的CEO Mark Karpeles已经在博客中宣布退出比特币基金会。
According to the Wall Street Journal earlier, CEO Mark Karpeles of the Bitcoin Exchange, Mt. Gox, had announced in his blog that he would withdraw from the Bitcoin Foundation.
至于Karpeles离开的原因，其本人并没有透露。不过外媒猜测这和Mt.Gox接连不断出现的安全漏洞有一定的关系。据了解，Mt.Gox目前面临一系列长期的技术问题。这些问题去年夏季就已开始出现，当时Mt.Gox暂停了客户提取美元。
As to the reasons for Karpeles’ departure, he did not disclose it himself. But the outsiders suspect that this has something to do with Mt. Gox’s recurring security gaps. It is understood that Mt. Gox is currently facing a series of long-term technical problems. These problems began to arise last summer, when Mt. Gox suspended his client’s United States dollar withdrawal.

Mt.Gox曾在发表的声明中称：“比特币软件中存在一个漏洞，黑客可以利用该漏洞修改交易信息，比如让一个本来已经发生的比特币交易看起来像没发生……这会导致系统重新发送比特币……”
Mt. Gox had previously stated in a statement that: “There is a gap in bitcoin software that hackers can use to modify transaction information, for example, by making it appear as if an already occurring bitcoin transaction had not occurred... This would result in a system retransmitting bitcoin...”
“比特币基金会”(Bitcoin Foundation)是一家倡导虚拟货币的行业组织，该组织的董事会成员中有一些是行业代表，Karpeles是业内举荐入选董事会的三人之一。
The Bitcoin Foundation is an industry organization that promotes virtual currency, and some of its board members are industry representatives, and Karpeles is one of the three persons nominated by industry to the board.
而受此影响，比特币的价格出现了较大波动。而国内比特币的交易价格目前大约是3300-3500元。

In the case of Mt. Gox, the domestic Bitcoin trading site BTC China and several foreign Bitcoin websites have issued a statement that this bad swing is the result of the heinous actions of the companies that Mt.Gox relies on, but it simply does not reflect the value of the bitcoins and the digital money industry itself. 另据外电报道，比特币交易平台Mt. Gox的网站周一晚间已无法使用，据称该网站此前已暂停比特币交易，主页或已被删除。
It was also reported that the website of the Bitcoin trading platform, Mt. Gox, could not be used during the night of week, and that the website had allegedly previously suspended the Bitcoin transaction or had its home page deleted.
